July 2017

Ronayne annual fishing crew is looking good! Happy Fourth of July!

We have had a great start to the summer. Pretty warm temps and a decent amount of sun and rain mixed in there too which have kept fire danger to low so far. It is hard to believe it will be the 4th of July in just three days. The summers seem to fly by quicker each year. Speaking of the 4th, the biggest small town parade in the world is much anticipated. Floats, candy and more will be for all to enjoy starting around 1:00 with other activities in the park too. Followed by a great fireworks display over Miner’s Lake.

The few days of rain have been a welcome sight for the merchants and attractions in town. The sidewalks fill up when the boating and beach weather is not so nice. The crowds at the Tuesday Night live and the Farmers market have been great too. The Farmers market starts at 5:00 and music around town starts at about 7:00. Later in July brings us the Blueberry Arts Fest, which is getting bigger and better every year.

The third annual Ely Marathon is happening September 22-23. Here’s the link  http://www.elymarathon.com/ . It was a great race last year and is expected to be bigger and better this year!

Town will continue to gear up as the 4th of July approaches and the Blueberry Arts Fest opens up the end of July. The weather forecasts are great so come on up and enjoy the beach and everything the area has to offer. We still have some great vacation opportunities available. It’s never too late to make those last minute plans to visit us and the Ely area.  Make sure to call soon to guarantee the cabin and week/weeks or days you prefer. Please check the web site www.whiteironbeach.com for all the current up to date info and specials.

Take care,

Kerry and Sandy

Fishing Reports

The walleye fishing has been pretty good so far this early summer. OK numbers but lots of small ones.  The bass and northern are very active as the water is warming up nicely. We are continuing to see some really nice crappies well over 13 inches and really thick across the back. Even though we have had overall good weather is has not been consistent which has affected the success of most anglers.
Boundary water permits are selling out fast so please call if you have any desire for a guided trip in to Basswood Lake. Reservations for all BWCAW entry points can be made on a first-come, first-served basis starting 1/28/15. Reservations can be made online or by calling 1-877-444-6777.
