Fishing, families, beach and fun in Ely, Minnesota!

Hello Kerry,
It is that time of year again when we catch ourselves coming and going. Remodeling cabins, cleaning cabins and getting the grounds in shape. As usual we have multiple projects going around the resort. Cabin 27 is coming along nicely and the remodel in cabin 7 is progressing quickly (pictures below). Look out for new pictures on our Facebook page.
At least this year we are doing this with no snow, well kind of sort of no snow on the ground. As you can tell from the picture above we have open water! Ice completely moved out of White Iron this past Sunday/Monday. Next project on the horizon is putting in docks. Check out the web cam to what the progress looks like. Web Cam click HERE. The Second Annual WIBR ‘When the Boat Floats’ Ice Out Contest ended last week. Check out Facebook to see who the lucky 3 winners were. Thanks to everyone who entered and congrats to those that won!
There has been a lot happening around town and you can see/feel the buzz picking up. Some of the outfitters in town have already seen a few groups go out and endure the elements of northern MN. Sheridan St continues to see building improvements and new businesses.
We look forward to our first guests arriving in less than two weeks. Things are shaping up to be a pretty busy summer. We have posted many specials on our website, so please check it out.

Ice – Gone to November (hopefully)!
Crappie – Crappie fishing ranges from good to excellent on many lakes area lakes right now. Many of the best reports are coming from the smaller area lake where crappies are being found shallow with bluegills. Both species have been hitting small plastics, jigs tipped with waxies or (if your mainly targeting crappies) crappie minnows. On the bigger area lakes, crappies are still being found in their wintering holes, but they too have been aggressive. Pink, white and red have been hot colors, regardless of the lake.
