It looks very good that the south access boat landing and open water to the river and many fishing areas well past Ring Rock will be available on Saturday for fishing opener. We were there this morning and the only ice was some that blew in because of the East winds. The wind direction is turning to the being out of the south tonight and tomorrow with some being strong and gusty.
It looks like everything from the Bear Island River to the Kawishiwi River is open and navigable. Please be careful and watch for ice flows over the weekend.
Silver Rapids to the South is moving out but slowly due to wind direction. The switch in wind direction should help that. I am guessing we will be trailering boats on Saturday morning to the South landing. But you just don’t know what the wind and rain is going to do the the ice flow and melt. Bear Island Lake blew completely out over night. Shagawa still looks pretty socked in.
