November News from WIBR

This was your last view of White Iron Beach if you visited us this year. We hope to see you coming down the road soon.
The resort is put to bed for another summer season. The docks are all rolled up and the water lines blown out. The three weeks we were open in October were pretty nice for this time of year. A bit of frost on the pumpkin a couple of mornings but overall really nice weather.
This time of year we like to reflect on how lucky we are to live and work in such a great area. None of of it would be possible with out our great customer base that comes back to visit us and White Iron Beach year after year. We know you all have many places to choose from to enjoy your vacations and family time and are humbled that you have picked us and Ely.  We will continue to improve and upgrade our cabins and grounds to make WIBR the best place possible. Our entire family thanks you for your past business and looks forward to the next time you are in Ely.  As the holiday season starts this month please travel safely and enjoy your families and friends.
We do plan on attending the same sport shows this upcoming Spring, Schaumburg Il, Tinly Park IL, Eau Claire WI and Minneapolis. I will post the exact dates in future newsletters and on our Facebook page.
We are already getting many inquires for the 2016 season. If you did not re book before you left this summer please call or write soon to lock in your favorite cabin or cabins.  . Please check the web site www.whiteironbeach.com for all the current up to date info and specials.
 Take care.

Fishing Reports

Most of us have retired our soft water fishing gear for the current season. The weather has been plenty nice to get out on the water but we especially have been way to busy to get out there. The first ice will form before you know it and a whole new world of fishing will begin for more months than we have for open water angling. I would imagine the first walleyes will be taken on Shagawa sometime in November. We might have access to a really nice fish house this year so maybe we will have more personal ice fishing stories to report as the winter progresses.
The lottery dates to put in for day use motor and over night motor BWCAW permit has been announced.  The BWCAW 2016 lottery application period begins December 16, 2015 through January 12, 2016, 9:00 p.m. Central Time. The lottery is for the following entry points and dates: Fall Lake entry points D (Fall Lake and beyond) and 24 (Fall Lake); Moose Lake entry points F (Moose-Newfound-Sucker), G (Moose-Prairie-Basswood) and 25 (Moose Lake) for dates between May 1 and September 30, 2016. Lottery results will be available on January 20, 2016. Reservations for all entry points can be made on a first-come, first-served basis beginning January 27, 2016, 9 a.m. Central Time.
It does not matter when during that time frame you input your request as it is a random draw for all that apply.  If you want to pick up your permits at White Iron Beach please remember to request us on your applications.  If you forget you can change this later. There are many more requests than permits for the Basswood entry points. If you want to give yourself a better chance for drawing a permit I would request multiple permits for the weeks you want permits. The permits are only $6.00 so if you get more than you want all you need to do is cancel the extra ones. It is important to cancel extra permits so others have an opportunity to pick them up.
If for some reason permit are left over after the lottery they can be purchased starting 1/27/16. Go to Permit info to input you permit requests.
Below are some of our better fish pictures from this past season.
