October News from White Iron Beach

What an awesome September. Virtually the entire month was nice. A bit chilly in the evening the last few days but sunny all day. We seemed to have a few more guests than normal this past month. Nice forecasts will do that. The second annual Ely Marathon was held on the 23rd and 24th. It did draw more runners this year and we did see two complete the full marathon portaging a canoe!! Of course the Harvest Moon Fest was also a big success again.
We now are settling in to start our Fall rituals of winterizing cabins and bringing the docks in. Seems like a week or two ago we were opening things up. It won’t be long before we can start doing demo on cabins slated for renovation or additions. Just because you are related to a carpenter, our son John,  does not mean you get first dibs on his services. When you do great work there are always jobs waiting. He’ll get to it, always does.
We really appreciate you spending your precious vacation time with us this past year and hope to see you again soon. If you did not get a chance to post a review on Trip Adviser please do so. It is great feed back for us and prospective visitors to WIBR and the Ely Area.

We still have some great vacation opportunities available. It’s never too late to make those last minute plans to visit us and the Ely area.  We will have most cabins open until about the 20th of October. Make sure to call soon to guarantee the cabin and week/weeks or days you prefer. Please check the website www.whiteironbeach.com for all the current up to date info and specials.  We are already getting many inquires for the 2017 season. If you did not re book before you left this summer please call or write soon to lock in your favorite cabin or cabins.

Fishing Reports

Fishing Report

The White Iron fishing has improved recently. The cooler water temps have helped. Our annual Fall overnight fishing trip was a week or so ago. This year was just a bit disappointing compared to last year but last year was the best fishing we had ever experienced.  We still caught number of moist species and even brought a few home. The highlight was Layton having the best fishing year ever. He caught several walleye, a huge small mouth bass and also about a 39 inch northern. The weather was awesome so that even made the slow fishing not really seem that bad. Check out some pictures from the trip.
